Nokia New Release

The year seems to be getting off to a flying start and only a few weeks in, there is a Nokia new release to look forward to. The company is set to unveil a few new devices, some for the first time and some as official global releases, on 25 February 2018 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

However, the Nokia new release that has everyone anticipating February, is the new flagship smartphone Nokia 9. Rumours are already flying around about what can be expected from this new flagship device that’s set to take over from the unwavering Nokia 8.

First things first, what are the other devices being launched by Nokia?

Starting from the bottom, there are rumours that the company will introduce a 4G variant of their popular Nokia 3310. That alone is exciting news because the Nokia 3310 remains one of the most popular phones to date. Having a 4G capable version of this fan favourite will certainly make a lot of people quite happy, however, the company has kept the lid on this news and it’s unconfirmed if this variant will be available to the South African market.

Another big reveal could be the Nokia 1, which if it makes its appearance come February, will be the first smartphone to run Android Oreo (Go Edition).

Next up there is the Nokia 6 (2018), which was launched and made available to the Chinese market in 2017. Although it won’t be a launch of something new, it’s still an exciting prospect for the rest of the world as we prepare for another option being added to the Nokia stable for all those Nokia die-hard fans.

The Nokia 7 which enjoys a certain exclusivity for being only available in the Chinese market, could also make an appearance for a global launch, but this is just speculation and is being called unlikely. Finally, there are rumours that the company could reveal the Nokia 4 which has escaped leaks and remains shrouded in mystery.

Now, for the star of the show…

The Nokia 9 has been quite highly anticipated and if the rumours are true could rival the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Now that is big news in the Android world, because as most Android users will tell you, the S8 range definitely sets the bar high. The new flagship from Nokia is expected to come with an impressive 5.5inch OLED display, which is noteworthy since that is the same kind of display being used by Samsung as well as Apple said to be joining that wave soon too.

On the design front, claims of an all metal body as well the Nokia 9 being dust and water resistant up to 1.5m deep for 30 minutes seems to be at the top of the list. Other talking points that arose from leaked images include the minimal bezels on the front of the phone which caters to the increase in display size, the dual front facing camera and the lack of a fingerprint scanner on the front suggesting it could be it the back of the phone.

For all the photographers out there, the new flagship offering will reportedly have a 22MP dual lens Carl Zeiss camera at the back and a 12MP front facing dual lens camera. That alone makes it quite appealing, beating out some of the other flagship devices from competitors.

For now though that’s pretty much all the rumoured information available and paints a really appealing picture of what the Nokia 9 could be. We will be waiting patiently for 25 February 2018 to arrive and if you are a Nokia fan, stay posted and Phonefinder will have all the details for you.
