If you are on Apple iPhone you may find it surprising to find that Google Search is a standard search option on your phone’s browser. 

However it isn’t surprising when you learn that Google paid Apple $1 billion for this privilege.

Google, whose revenue reached $66 billion in 2014, are no strangers to the strategy of buying their way to search supremacy. Lucky for all of us Google Search lends to an amazing experience on a smart phone, so there is no love-loss here. 

Google search is surely important to cell phone users, in fact more than half of Google’s searches occur on mobile devices. That’s not to say that mobile is eating into the desktop search space, on the contrary, mobile search is actually growing to become a completely separate segment of search that has caught up to desktop search (which is also growing)
