Many people believe that the future isn't very bright for the tablet, except for Tim Cook, Apple CEO.
Tim Cook believes that "over the long arc of time," there's still a "very, very bright future" for the iPad. This is response to the recent decline in iPad sales. Apple sold "only” 21 million iPads during the December quarter, down from 26 million just the year before. In relation to this the iPhone just showed record shattering results.
However Tim Cook says that the iPad is in a different renewal category to the iPhone; it’s somewhere more between a smartphone and a laptop.
