5 Best Smartphone Photography Destinations in Cape Town

Phil in Cape Town

South Africa is such a beautiful place that we couldn’t decide on where would be the best smartphone photography destinations, so we thought we’d split it by city. Up first is the Mother City. Truly a beautiful place, it was tough, but these are our 5 picks if you want a great place to take some amazing pictures with your smartphone while enjoying a good time.

Considered to be one of the most photographed locations in Cape Town, the Bo-Kaap has gone by many names. Its current title means "Above the Cape” when translated from Afrikaans. Nestled at the foot of Signal Hill, this colourful area of Cape Town will give you picturesque shots from within its confines, as well as of the City and the majestic mountains that overlook the Cape.

Muizenberg Beach

Muizenberg Beach Huts

Cape Town is a city of colour and Muizenberg Beach is no exception. With its string of colourful beach huts, you are bound to get some epic shots whether they’re the main attraction of your shots, as a background or even somewhat of a prop. If you’re looking for more action shots, try Surfers Corner, considered to be the birthplace of surfing in South Africa and still the most popular surf spot around.

Table mountain National Park

Table Mountain National Park

This destination offers much more than just unsurpassed, panoramic views of the city. Not just a great spot for amazing snaps, you might be a little surprised at what you find at the top. Quietly sitting above the city are 5 dams and the picturesque Cape Floral Kingdom to name a few of the surprises.

Kirstenbosch Botanic Gardens

One of the most beautiful botanic gardens in the world, of course this gem of Cape Town and South Africa made the list. Kirstenbosch can provide more than enough beauty in a single picture. The fynbos found here is unique in that it can’t be found anywhere else, so your pictures are guaranteed to have an element of one-of-a-kindness.

Clifton Beach

Clifton Beach

The white sand beaches and turquoise water will really leave you breathless at Clifton Beach. Divided into four beaches by granite boulders, you will be spoilt for choice. A popular spot for surfers, volleyball players and generally hip and happening, beautiful people, what more can you ask for when you’re in the mood to take pretty pictures in the sun while enjoying a day at the beach.
