A Tale of Four New Nokias and a Banana Phone

Nokia made sure that theirs would be name remembered at this year’s Mobile World Conference. Not only did the well-known cellular brand launch its latest flagship device, it launched three other new devices and topped it all off with a reboot of an old favourite.

That’s right, a whopping five handsets were showcased and they certainly aim to please. Let’s go through what Nokia has brought to the table.

The Budget Beater – Nokia 1

While most budget smartphones can leave a lot to be desired, Nokia wanted to ensure this is not the case with the Nokia 1. Listening to the market intently, Nokia has delivered a device that aims to address known issues with budget smartphones.

The Nokia 1 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition, a lighter version of the popular Android Operating System, 1GB RAM and 8GB of storage space. The colourful shell that encases the phone is interchangeable too so you can express yourself as you please.

A Mid-Range Masterpiece – Nokia 6

Nokia 6 (2018)

The new Nokia 6 packs quite the punch where mid-range devices are concerned. The original Nokia 6 was definitely no slouch when it came to features and performance, so Nokia decided to improve it.

Now with 3GB RAM that boosts performance, the Nokia 6 boasts a Zeiss Optics rear camera that will also provide a much more impressive camera experience. A real highlight is the new fast charging capabilities that will see 50% of battery regained in 30 minutes.

The Flagship without the Price – Nokia 7 Plus

Packed full of flagship level features, the Nokia 7 Plus won’t disappoint. Coming in with 4GB RAM and a claim of two day battery life, what more could you ask for in a phone?

How about a rear placed fingerprint sensor, a 6inch FHD Display and some AI assistance for your photo taking? Well it doesn’t stop there! There’s also a Zeiss Optics dual rear camera setup, with the Pro Camera app from Nokia that will allow you to adjust settings and view the result in real time.

The New Kid on the Block – Nokia 8 Sirocco

Times are changing and Nokia is well aware of that, so they have opted to try and give the likes of Samsung a run for their money. The new Nokia 8 Sirocco is the latest flagship and is a feature-filled Smartphone that wants to take over the world.

It is QI wireless charging capable and also supports fast charging. 3D Gorilla Glass 5 at the back and front provide sufficient protection and the phone is water and dust resistant. A 5.5inch 2K edge to edge curved display, 6GB of storage space and 128GB RAM, which will provide an amazing, effortless user experience.

The Banana Phone – Nokia 8110 4G

Fans of The Matrix will surely remember this iconic phone from Nokia, but definitely not as it is now. The new version keeps its old name, with a slight tweak that alludes to its new capabilities, introducing the Nokia 8110 4G.

As far as feature phones go, this is probably one of the best looking and more stylish of the lot. It has all the necessities like a 2MP rear camera, 4GB of storage and a 2.4inch display. In keeping with its predecessor, the curve on the Nokia 8110 4G still looks to fit your face and has actual buttons, difference being the funky new design and its 4G capabilities with a Wi-Fi hotspot option that allows for the phones fast connection speed to be shared with another device.

Judging by the success of the rebooted Nokia 3310, it’s no surprise Nokia has embraced the power of nostalgia with this the second release in their Nokia Originals range.
