iPhone X: Phil’s Five Favourite Features

 Phil with the iPhone X

Apple has wrapped up the much anticipated launch of the latest additions to its smartphone family and it deserved all the hype that’s been building for the last few months. Officially called the "iPhone X” but pronounced "10”, it represents the biggest redesign for the iPhone ever. The phone is encased in glass and steel, is mostly screen and packed with features that are sure to wow and dazzle, so here are our five favourite features of the iPhone X.

1. Face ID

 iPhone X Face ID

The newest flagship from Apple has officially bid the home button and fingerprint scanner goodbye and said hello to Face ID. This will be the new way to use an iPhone, well the X for now, and Apple says it has made sure that the security and speed around it is just as advanced. Whether you change your hairstyle or wear glasses, Apple says this iPhone will know it’s you, as fast if not quicker than the fingerprint scanner detected your fingerprint. Not only will Face ID be used to unlock and access the phone, the feature will also allow the phone to adapt when in use, by recognising you’re looking at it and not switching the screen off or playing loud notifications.

2. All Screen

iPhone X Super Retina Display

Being dubbed as the Super Retina Display, the OLED display on the iPhone X measures in at 5.8 inches and apart from the slight bezel at the top which houses the front facing camera, speaker and sensors, the rest is all screen. Unlike other OLED displays, the Super Retina Display will enhance the depth and quality of images and videos being viewed by providing richer colour and contrast. All that aside though, it certainly helps make this iPhone a thing of absolute beauty.

3. Cameras

iPhone X Dual Camera

At the back are dual 12-megapixel cameras that feature dual image stabilisation. The camera has always been a standout feature for iPhone and with this latest addition it’s no different. You'll be able to capture images like a pro with the new portrait lighting mode, which allows the flash to be tweaked according to your needs, so if you’re after a little more natural looking light or perhaps give the impression of a stage spotlight, you can. The 7-megapixel front facing camera has put its hand up too. With the TrueDepth system, expect more vibrant, richer selfies.

4. Charging

iPhone X Wireless Charging

Apple has finally decided to join the revolution and has introduced wireless charging in the iPhone X. Sure this feature has been around for a while in other smartphones, but if Apple has done it well enough, they will be remembered for that above anything else. The Fast Charging feature has also been included in the iPhone X, with Apple saying the battery life has improved by 2 hours compared with the iPhone 7.

5. Animojis

iPhone X Animoji

The new Face ID technology has lent itself to a pretty cool new feature in the iPhone X, Animoji’s. A first for Apple, this new feature comes to life inside iMessage. Now you will be able to give your emoji a voice, literally, and that voice is yours. By mapping to your face, you can become the unicorn you’ve always wanted to be with no hesitation whatsoever.
