LG Q6 Review - A Midrange Smartphone with High End Features

LG Q6 Reviewed

The new LG Q6 is unofficially being called the "LG G6 mini” and it’s easy to see why. This new midrange smartphone is ideal for those that want to have a great smartphone experience but don’t want to break the bank. This smartphone comes in 4 colours and looks and feels like it’s a higher end smartphone, so don’t be surprised if your friends and family mistake it as such.

General

The new norm seems to be the leaving out or moving of the fingerprint scanner, that’s become the preferred security measure for smartphone users. The Q6 is no exception with this latest addition to the LG family opting for Facial Recognition instead of a fingerprint scanner.

Display

Boasting the very same "FullView” display as the LG G6, the LG Q6 will give you the same quality display many have come to expect from LG and once again they have not disappointed. At 5.5-inches, it’s surprisingly compact and therefore makes for easy one handed use when required, leaving you hard pressed to find a smartphone that can deliver such vibrant colour and contrast with as much screen-to-body ratio.

Charging & Power

You will be pleasantly surprised to find that the battery is capable of charging to 50% in about 45 minutes. That will definitely add to the appeal of this midrange smartphone. The good news though, is that you can expect to get a full day’s moderate usage from the LG Q6’s battery, so if you’re out and about, you should have little to worry about.

Camera

The camera quality on the LG Q6 is definitely one of the main selling points for this midrange smartphone. At the back it sports a 13-megapixel camera that can produce high-quality images and upfront you have a 5-megapixel camera that can deliver wide angle shots as needed. LG has catered to smartphone photographers with filters and a simple user interface that includes 3 modes to choose from, with the highlight here being the "Food” mode if you’re a budding foodie.

Processing & Storage

This smartphone is up to the task and will deliver on your expectations. Coming in with 3GB of RAM, it’s got the processing power to do what you want it to do without having to wait forever, as can sometimes be the case with some midrange smartphones. As for storage space, the LG Q6 comes standard with 32GB of space, but that is of course expandable with a MicroSD card up to 256GB in size.

Conclusion

As a midrange smartphone, the LG Q6 can deliver the goods. With its "FullVision” display and quality cameras, you won’t be disappointed. Definitely a great contender if you want a smartphone that is mostly screen, very capable and elegantly designed.
